The Garden Design Process
Whether you want to redesign your existing garden or would like to create a new garden from scratch, we can take you through the design process from concept to maturity, nurturing your ideas along the way.
Consultation
In an initial consultation we will discuss what you require from your garden, both for its functional and desirable purposes. We will look at what style or influences you would like to show through in the design, and how we can link the garden back to your house whilst integrating within the wider landscape.
From this, we will draw up a client brief, the basis of the design.
Survey
A detailed site survey will be carried out to map out the boundaries of your house and garden, location characteristics, changes of level and any features which will remain. This will typically take a half to a full day with two people.
For larger gardens, we may use an independent surveying company.
Design
Using your brief and survey we will come up with a design to fit your specification. If you wish, we will be happy to draw up several initial ideas for you so that you can choose which one to have developed.
We will create a scaled presentation plan which lays out the garden detail as an overhead view, and can also offer section elevations, isometric drawings and coloured plans to bring your design to life.
Installation
We will work alongside a professional landscape contractor to implement the build of a design, using high-quality and ethically-sourced materials.
We will act as the mediator between you and the contractor to ensure the design is built to a high standard and in accordance with the design.
Aftercare
To ensure your garden matures into the original vision, we can create an annual garden maintenance plan for you to follow.
We can also return to carry out seasonal visits for detailed plant care, or return on a regular basis for full garden maintenance.
Charges
The initial consultation time is free of charge, although the cost of travel will be billed. During this visit, a budget will be agreed and a flexible cost outlined for the design process.
